Dog treats, they are all the same correct? Well, not quite. Many dog treats contain a large amount of low nutrient fillers, artifical flavours, preservatives or additives. Some use different drying techniques and a huge amount are sourced from overseas which leaves the quality and conditions of production in question (not to mention the fact that we dont know how the animals were treated in some of these countries)
At CLEAR Dog we try our hardest to provide dog treats which tick all the boxes. High quality, Natural, Healthy and still at good value. While in many cases we try to be the cheapest, we are not always, but normally this is in order to maintain a good balance with our other criteria.
Quality Dog treats
We have done our research and have shoped around. We have asked for samples at many wholesalers, purchased as ‘hidden shoppers’ and talked direct with manufacturers. As a result we feel we are sourcing some of the best quality products. Take our chicken breast dog treats,, feedback is its the best around. We also have a relationship with a human grade kangaroo supplier who we now order direct from. freshly dried to order direct to us. Mazing quality! We are not always sure why there can be a difference between different suppliers products which have similar claims, but we can assure you there can be. We try to find the best one and bring it to you at the best price we can while remaining feasible. We also rely on our customers feedback. If you feel there is better out there, our pricing is not competitive, please do let us know as keeping these values is a continous process.
Natural Dog Treats
Except for one or two products (such as rawhide), our products are preservative and additive free. Each product description clearly states if it is preservative abd additive free. Most products unless stated are nothing added, 100% natural. Except for baked dog treat products, everything is naturall sun dried and not smoked cooked or freeze dried
Healthy Dog Treats
Many of your commercial treats can be high in sugar content. Sugar is bad, humans are addicted to it! ( I digress, but I found this a great read on sugar for humans which help us with our personal nutition: How Much Sugar). The fact is that treats for dogs can be healthy dog treats! Look for treats with nothing added which is the majority of what we sell. Low fat treats such as Kangaroo are great, Omega Treats such as fish treats are too. the general recommendation is that dog treats should not account for more than 10% of a dogs calorie intake but of course every dog is different so speak with a vet with nutition experience.
Next time you are at the supermarket, go down the pet aisle and look at some dog treats. How many of them have a single ingredient? 100% Beef meat, 100% Chicken breast….not many. You see, we all crave sugar, and so do pets. the big commercials know this. They want a treat that dogs go crazy for so you come back and buy it again as they love them and they are cheap to buy. Maybe thats why they believe 45% of US dogs are overweight. Bottom line, a sugar treat from time to time is ok such as a high reward training treat for example but they should be very limited. They give natural healthy dog treats a bad name.
There are a huge amount of treats available which might cost a little more than the commercially available, cheap but low nutritional dog treats, but they are high in nutrition, no added sugars or fillers, and contain no artifical preservatives or additives. thats most of CLEAR Dog treats!
Value Dog Treats
Our dog treats come in a variety of sizes, from 100g packs which is common for people to buy to get a variety, to bulk packs as large as 1kg when you know what your dog likes. Our stock is fresh so we expect the shelf life of your dog treats to be in excess of 12 months so it can be economical to buy in bulk every month or two months. We also commit to a maximum shipping rate. We subsidise the shipping in most cases, and the more you buy the more we subsidise. Our margins are low, especially in the bulk sizes and when shipping subsides are accounted for. We believe if we keep our margins down and pass on more value we will build up a repeat customer base. So far, so good! We are not always cheapest if you compare a treat name to a treat name, but if you compare the quality, freshness and customer service we hope you agree you are getting the best all round value. If not, let us know, its the only way we can improve with our customers feedback.

We have sourced a few different tuna treats in the past but always went back to these and will now stick with them. Kangaroo Tails (Whole)

Kangaroo tails make a great dog treat for most siz e dogs though can be a little overwhelming for smaller dogs. Our 10kg miniature Schnauzers enjoy them and they tend to go back to them over the course of a day. Larger dogs of course will go through them much quicker but they are a longer lasting dog treat and kangaroo is low fat. Kangaroo tails will also make great dental chews.

Beef liver dog treats are an old favourite, contain good nutrition and are a great little dog treat. You may also want to consider Beef Puff Cubes for a less rich treat, which are air puffed. We also have kangaroo, pork and sheeps liver available.
