Good value, appear to be tasty and long lasting, but my beagle walks away. These are a well made treat and I can’t work out why my boy isn’t interested. Would still recommend.

Hi Katherine, feel free to return these for a refund or credit if you have no other dogs to step in. Occasionally they can be a little picky. Sometimes they are scared off by the size so if you have some strong cutters perhaps give this a try.

Our doge really enjoy these beef paddywacks. Because we have small dogs we cut them into pieces for small morning treats and they take quite a while to chew so give the dogs lots of satisfaction.

We bought these as a change from the beef hooves we normally get for our 2 dogs & while they ate them, they didn’t seem to like them as much as the hooves. Also, they don’t last anywhere near as long as the hooves – about 20 minutes for a paddywack, whereas they’ll chew on a hoof for hours & then leave it & keep coming back to it over 2 or 3 days before it’s all gone. Of course the paddywacks aren’t as stinky as the hooves. Overall the paddywacks are a good treat, but don’t last long enough with our dogs.

These are too big for small dogs, and they are so hard that it is difficult to cut them into small pieces. My dogs are not overly fussed on them. They love the kangaroo jerky but this has been out of stock in the short pieces.

These are quite big – have had to cut them up a bit for my silky and mini foxie – but they are long lasting and clearly very tasty. Great for when I go to work to keep them busy for a while – but they are hard to cut (have scored and then snapped them or split them down the middle.

We bought these to keep our 16 week old Pugalier puppy occupied so he didn’t annoy our old Pugalier and they have worked a treat., keeping him busy chewing for ages .The old dog found an half chewed one and he now enjoys chewing on one.as well.I soak one end in a glass of water to give him a softer start.I too found a partly chewed piece – in my shoe.😂 I’m hoping regular use will keep tartar at bay.

I was gifted a bag of these for my BC and she loved them originally. I then purchased another bag and she tends to just leave them to one side. Not sure what the difference is as they were both purchased from your company. She loves the other treats though.

Hi Sally. that’s strange. do you have any other treats in the house she likes? Sometimes we see this when they consider something else higher value and leave it in hope that one come out of the jar. Still, its unusual as most love most things. The paddy wacks are from the same supplier though breeds ect can change. Its likely they are from the same batch if ordered within 3 months. We haven’t had any other concerns on this product. You are welcome to return them to us for a refund rather than them go to waste. Contact [email protected] and say you have spoken to Peter and want to set up a return and refund. Its ok if you have used 1-2.

Quite oily/rich but no effects on my standard poodles. Takes them a little while to finish and sometimes there is a little left – that doesn’t often happen – but I think due to tired jaw!

These last quite a bit, the thicker pieces take about 45 mins for my dogs, I wouldn’t give more than one a day as they seem quite rich. Great to keep a busy mind occupied at brunch at a cafe or picnic. Very palatable for the dogs, more so than the shark skin in my (dog’s) experience. Only slight negative might be the richness can lead to loose poos so I wouldn’t be tempted to give too many at a go however much they beg!

These are so hard that when my labs bites them up they crack into sharp pieces which he swallows ! I am worried they will pierce or cause an internal obstruction. I tried soaking them but only the very outer softened & were still rock hard inside. I can appreciate how smaller dogs can gnaw away at them gently chewing of the softened outer but I would not recommend these for strong chewers .

These beef paddywacks are really hard! My greyhound lost interest in them because they were just too hard for him to chew. Probably a good treat for a large dog who really like chomping down on a treat. I didn’t realise they were so hard.

My vet suggested I buy these for my Jack Russell. He doesn’t take to them when I first give them to him which is really strange, but after a little encouragement he loves them. I was a bit concerned at first when they splintered whilst he was chewing them but he enjoys them. One stick will last a few days for him as he only chews it for about 30 mins at a time.

My boys love these treats. I have seen a great improvement in their teeth with most of the tartar being removed. My only down side is that they do not last that long for my boys. My little boy is a Maltese/Cav cross and my medium boy is a Staffy/Shar pei cross. Little boy gets a half tendon and it will be lucky to last 5-10 mins as my bigger boys devours them in 5 mins.
I still intend to buy them as I think their dental cleanliness outweighs the length of time it takes to eat them

Definitely a big thumbs up for these. Long lasting chew and are narrow enough for small dogs to get their mouths around but still big enough to last for a considerable time even with the large dogs. I order them again and again. Excellent value.

Do they harden over time? When I first got them, my beagle went through the tendon in 2-3 minutes. I decided to stop giving it to him but then a month or so later I gave him another and he spent significantly more time on it. It was great and he loved it.

Hi Grace, The water content is already removed so the consistency should really change though the breed and age etc of the animal can certainly give different consistencies in this tendon.

My dog loves this! It looks deceptively soft but lasts a really long time. Am deducting a star for the unnecessary shrink wrapping. It takes an extra minute to unwrap and contributes to plastic waste (and weight!). This item doesn’t have a strong odour nor is it crumbly either so I don’t see the point.

I’m disappointed in these paddywacks!! They are very brittle and pretty much shattered when my big dog bit into it. He would have eaten the whole thing in 5 minutes if I hadn’t taken it away from him. I didn’t want him eating all those large shards! Now I have a pile of paddywacks I don’t know what to do with.

      cleardog

Hi Candace, Sorry to hear the paddywacks are not working for you. you are welcome to return for a refund. The paddywacks are not bone and not cooked, its just dried tendons and should not present your dog with any issues as far as harming him goes. Some dogs have strong jaws and can get through these fast but most find this a longer lasting chew. We have literally sold tonnes of this product with no reported issues from the tendon.

Not a fan. These very firm hard treats but are surprisingly brittle. I was hoping for.a long lasting chew that would help clean teeth, but it sounds like they are chewing hard candy. I don’t think they have a particularly exciting smell either, the dogs looked fairly unimpressed when they first tried them and left hard chunks lying around the house and they now turn their noses up at them completely since they tried the roo knees.

Got these for my foxy and dachshund cross, i got the large size pack because i had planned to cut them up into smaller pieces for them, i used my usual dog treat cutters to cut into smaller pieces but they shattered into small sharp pieces when cut. I expected these to be firm but chewy but they are just very very hard and when my dachshund was chomping on it smaller splinter like pieces were flying off and it sounded like he could break a tooth, these are not suitable for my boys. Delivery was very fast and the Sheep ears i also got are good.

My boy normally likes all treats. For some reason he doesn’t like these. He’ll play with it and toss it around but won’t eat it. I’m not sure if the scent isn’t enticing enough? I’ve put them in the same bag as the Kangaroo Jerky Flaps (which he loves) to transfer some of the scent onto the Paddywacks but he’ll then only lick the Paddywacks and still won’t eat it. Any ideas?

    • Add a review

      cleardog

Hi Pam, I am not 100% sure as they are one of our more popular lasting treats but some dogs can get overwhelmed by larger treats – dogs (including one of ours will walk around aimlessly with a pigs ear and try and bury it but something smaller like a cow or sheep ears he goes nuts with. Then it comes down to taste, it unfortunately just might not be his cup of tea 🙁 If you have a small saw, try cutting in half and see if its the size perhaps.

These take time to munch through, so in that respect they get a tick of approval. The Westy and the Boerboel both love crunching on these. Though they didn’t save my expensive latex pillow from being destroyed. 🙁

      cleardog

Hi Shiona, thanks for the feedback. That surprises me as they are a dense tendon which normally take a little while to get through even for a strong jawed dog. What breed do you have? Send me an email the next time you order and I will put in a few samples such as the hooves etc to see if we can find something he/she enjoys that lasts a while. I will throw in another paddywack just in case you had a rogue one!
