Fish Dental Sticks Dog Treats
Fish Dental Sticks dog treats are a natural and healthy, long-lasting treat for your pet. Made from only Australian shark skin. They are perfect for all sizes of dogs.
They are packed with protein and omega 3 and act as a brilliant dental chew. So you know they are getting high levels of nutrients, as well as giving their teeth and gums a good clean. The smell can sometimes be strong, so we recommend them as an outside treat.
All of our shark products are derived from either North Queensland Blacktip Sharks or Australian Gummy Sharks. They are both highly common sharks in Australia and are caught using sustainable practices in accordance with the Australian Fisheries Regulations.
We ensure no endangered sharks are used in our products. The sharks used in our products are deemed “Least Concern” by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.
Please also note that these fish are primarily caught for human consumption. Often referred to as flake in fish and chip shops and we mainly use the non-human consumption leftovers which would otherwise be discarded. Nothing is wasted. We do not catch endangered sharks to use just their fins, tails or skin for dog products! We use the leftovers of common sustainably fished Australian shark used for human consumption.
Our products have a best before of 12 months from purchase if kept sealed and stored out of direct sunlight and under 30c on average.

This is a natural product so sizes and weights vary based on the size of the animal. The following is an indication on average only.
Pieces do vary but average around 12 – 15cm in length, 3-5 cm thickness and weigh between 30g and 60g so there is generally between 10 and 13 per 400g bag and between 25-30 per 1kg bag.
Pack Size: 400g sizes come in a convenient resealable stand-up pouch. 1kg bulk come in a resealable flat bag.

These smell so awful but they’re fantastic for my Staffi’s teeth. They take her a surprisingly long time to get through, given her jaw strength (20+ minutes). She likes to strip them apart, so she uses both front and back teeth, keeping them nice and clean.

My rhodeisan ridgeback has a chicken allergy so I wanted something that will clean his teeth, that is natural and doesn’t contains chicken so these were the perfect option. Whilst my dog is loving these dental sticks, it’ll be the only purchase of them. The smell is honestly awful and lingers on all dog bedding and in your nostrils.
They are long lasting for my 8kg terrier but she has had two incidents with them (keep in mind that she’s quite sensible with chews):
1. She managed to trap her lower lip in the folds of one of the dental sticks and began whining in distress. I was at least able to unravel it enough for her lip to be released.
2. She chewed a chunk off and got it stuck in her back teeth and against the roof of her mouth. She was unable to remove it herself and I had to intervene. It was really stuck back there too.
You should always supervise your dog when they’ve got a chew, but even more so with these kinds of chews.

My catahoula loves these! They are her absolute favourite. They last about 5-10 minutes but she is a super power chewer so that’s pretty good for her. She takes them straight outside to enjoy.

Certainly long lasting they keep my dog entertained for long periods of time, but the smell is awful for all the humans in our house.
Also, make sure to 100% supervise your dog as they chew these (should be doing so for all chews, but these for sure) as my dog was able to snag her bottom lip in one of the dental sticks between the folds and began whining in distress. Was easy enough to unroll it and release her lip at least.

Hard for me to rate this product. I’m sure the quality is fantastic (as with other Clear Dog products) but unfortunately, my greyhounds didn’t take to them at all. This is almost unheard of, as they normally love fishy chews. They might have had one each (albeit very reluctantly) but have refused to even look at them since. I put the treats aside for a bit, hoping the dogs might change their minds over time, but alas, no luck – they treat them with absolute disdain. Hopefully I can pass the treats on to friends’ dogs, as I’d hate them to go to waste.

My 4 dogs(poodles) 3kg to 6kg in weight got 1 fish dental each and after 1 hour and a half they gave up and only managed to each eat roughly 1/4 of this hard dental stick! I like how it takes them time and effort and they love them. Recommended!

when I fed my dog recently luckily i was watching her, i saw the dental stick get stuck in her throat and she was chocking very bad, i watched her force vomit it back out. My dog is medium sized, normally takes a while but the nature of the skin is tough so if not chewed properly it is a chocking hazard.

My Kelpie loves these! She takes it and then runs off to eat it where no-one will interrupt her. She’s not terribly fond of working for her food (i.e. chewing on something for a long period of time), but she makes an exception for these. She has inflammatory bowel disease and fish is the only protein that she can tolerate so these, and other Clear Dog treats, go down really well.

I have previously loved these chews – they were long lasting chews and the dogs really gave their back teeth a solid workout while chewing them. However the last batch was a disappointment. Some of the chews were small (a single piece of skin folded in half) and very dry. Consequently this batch has been consumed like potato crisps – crunch crunch and they are gone. Even the large multi-skin chews are just crunched into small fragments and then swallowed. It’s an expensive and very large instant treat for medium size dogs. Very much hoping the next batch goes back to the previous style. Original chews were 5+ stars. These ones were a fail.

Hi Heather, thanks for the feedback. Depending on the cut, thickness etc will depend on dry times required – it sounds as if the ones you received were perhaps dried a little too long. I will take this up with our supplier to try and ensure this doesn’t happen again. We will credit you for the bag that you had and apologise for the inconvenience and unusual quality issue.

Picture is slightly deceiving as these are quite thin (think bbq skewers). However, my dogs prefer this to shark skin even though these are also made from shark skin. They go pretty fast but good as a pre or post dinner snack.

My GS has a food allergy so these are fantastic for replacing bones. His teeth are absolutely white and clean. People often comment on how clean his teeth are and how healthy his gums are too. I’m a great advocate for dogs having something to chew on, so my GS has one every night. Expensive but when you’ve got a food sensitive dog it is worth it. I buy the thick ones

Incredibly tough chewy thing, but I suspect not as much liked by my dog as the roo ones. It took him over an hour to finish it off, which is the longest he has ever taken on a chewy treat other than a raw bone. He lined up happily for another though, so maybe I am anthropomorphising.
