Kangaroo Boomerangs Dog Treats

The Kangaroo Boomerangs dog treats are all-Australian kangaroo Arms/elbows/wrist bones.

They are a delicious, nutritious, and healthy treat for medium to large dogs. Small dogs might find it a struggle, but if they have strong jaws and up for the challenge definitely worth giving them a go! They contain bones as well as muscle meat and tendon. The muscle is what makes it meaty and chewy.

As like all of our treats, these treats contain no preservatives or additives, just natural meat and bone. Kangaroo treats are also perfect for dogs with allergies, as almost all dogs will have no trouble.

All of our bone treats are simply dried to remove the water at low temperatures and are not cooked. They are dried below the temperature where a bone calcifies and becomes brittle like a cooked bone.

Therefore, you can be assured our bone treats are particularly safe. Always keep an eye on your dog when consuming new treats and keep plenty of fresh water available at all times.

These treats are similar to the Kangaroo Teeth Cleaners.  The Kangaroo Teeth Cleaners, however, have a large sized bone wheres the boomerangs are meatier.

Our products have a best before of 12 months from purchase if kept sealed and stored out of direct sunlight and under 30c on average.

My 6 months golden retriever almost choked on it.
Luckily she vomited it out. It was a decent piece with sharp edges.

She used to tolerate the boomerangs fine. I am unsure whether she just grown up or if there are some issues with this batch. But for the owner who chooses to go ahead with this product needs to be very careful. Otherwise you will be like me, worrying about the dog at 3am and thinking whether to go to emergency or not.

Thank you for the feedback. Its not unusual for dogs to swallow and regurgitate food though it can be quite concerning for owners to watch. A dogs esophagus is short and allows for easy evacuation. If they eat too quickly or swallow something a little too big or something isnt sitting right in their stomach, a dog will simply regurgitate it and, though it can be gross, happily re-eat it and try again. Dehydrated bones have not calcified like a cooked bone so will not be brittle and break off inter hard chunks and shards, but they are bone and they do crunch up and you will see sharp bits which tend to be what makes them such good dental aids. All in all though dogs handle them extremely well and regurgitation for a dog is a common and natural process which in the vast majority of cases is successful. While we do get concerned feedback, this is generally where it ends and its extremely unusual to have feedback where a dog has actually been seriously harmed. That said, nothing is 100% guaranteed safe, chocking happens just like it does with humans and we do recommend monitoring your dogs.

I got these for my two whippets a few months ago and they loved them so much that i purchased some more which they also loved. Fast forward to the next morning when i walked out into the lounge room to find the floor, rug and couch covered in sloppy Whippet turds. Now if there’s one thing i love more than spending 3 hour’s on a Saturday morning cleaning up sloppy whippet turds it’s finishing only to find that my other whippet has analy painted the other end of the house. So yeah i don’t know what the go is with this batch but i won’t be giving them anymore.

Hi Paul, Oh dear! We has this once when we gave our schnauzer a roo lumbar tail. Change of diets, too much high quality protein in a single sitting, stomach sensitivities can all cause these sorts of things. There can be variations in batches due to the age and breed and what its feed was as well. I recommend reduced the size of the treats or time they have chewing on them. Roo and offal meats tend to cause this a little more common than other cuts and proteins.

My 2 Lab retrievers love the kangaroo boomerangs!!. I give the 8 year old the ones tending to be smaller, and the 14 month old the bigger ones to get use up that chewy Labrador energy

I tried these because what I wanted was unavailable. Miniature Poodle likes them however I was surprised that the bones splinter exactly as if they are cooked. I am always afraid to take my eyes off her when I give her one.
Sorry but I won’t purchase them again.

      cleardog

Hi Janiece, cooked bone has calcified and becomes brittle so will break up into nuggets and shards. This is not the case for dehydrated bones however they are still bones and they will naturally crunch up and may contain sharp edges. This is expected and what makes them great dental aids. The dogs seem to handle this very well and most feedback we receive is more owner concern than actual instances of harmed dogs. We have never had a single case of the boomerangs harming a dog fed back to us and we sell tonnes and tonnes of bone products. That said, nothing is 100% guaranteed to be safe and rare accidents can happen so its always worth monitoring them, or for peace of mind for owners move to another of our non bone treats.

I was quite surprised when I opened the packet as they were nothing like the picture on your web site. They are very large and I thought that I had been sent wrong treat. My dogs did enjoy them and I managed to break them into two pieces,

Hi Aly, I am sorry if they were not quite as expected. The sizes can vary due to the size of the roo whcih can vary on age, season and the breed. We do source from a few different abattoirs so they can butcher it slightly different however other than size it should be reasonably the same cut wise.

I give my Kelpie/Fox terrier Cross a Kangaroo Boomerang when I need to leave her home alone. These are great for reducing anxiety because when she is chewing on these she is very calm. Great product that keeps her occupied for an hour or so!

I have a Kelpie and Cattle dog who love the kangaroo leg bones, goat horns, lamb puff, and beef paddywacks. I like to try samples of different treats when I order those and bought two of these boomerangs. My dogs loved these too, but they started splintering into sharp pieces after about 10 minutes and I ended up taking them away. I’m not sure if this is normal and/or whether my dogs were too big for them? Either way, I’d give these a pass if you have a bigger dog who is a hard chewer.

      cleardog

Hi Erin, the bone products by their nature will crunch up and its can be what makes them a great dental chew. As they are not cooked, they have not calcified so will not shatter into hard shards or nuggets. The dogs seem to manage the bones very well and while nothing is 100% safe and we recommend monitoring dogs, we have never in all our years had any negative feedback with these bones.

This product use to be great but now find they have little meat left on them and the bones do splinter May not be cooked but over drying hardens the bones Also mixed bag some are two big for my dogs
Before they where a lot smaller Could not recommend

      cleardog

Hi Greg, we did have a batch where the abattoir removed more meat than normal. We have fed this back and we expect this was a one off and they should be back to normal. Cooking bones at high temperatures causes calcification which is how they become very brittle and shard or break up into nuggets. Dehydrated bones are done below the point of calcification so they remain more crunchy than brittle. They are though still bone and will present softer points and edges and crunch up. However dogs manage this much better and these edges are great for dental. While nothing is 100% safe and extremely rare accidents happen, we simply do not see many injuries with these bones. If we did, we simply would not sell them.

Thank goodness for these treats we can now stop having our rough collie’s teeth professional cleaned yearly. Since chewing on both kangaroo boomerangs and disks, his teeth are so white with no sign of plaque… just amazing. He doesn’t try to hide, just sits and enjoy chewing.

It is literally a bit of a mixed bag. Some have barely any meat on it and are therefore not as popular with the dog!.
My dutch Sheppard likes these occasionally but is not crazy for them as other dogs in above reviews. If she is really hungry and bored than it takes well below one hour to eat one.
Also, they can create a bit of a mess if eaten on the carpet or dog bed. The dried meat with saliva parts which fall off are very sticky – a snack for outdoors.

Good size for medium dogs, they are a longer lasting chew and take a bit of work…still demolished in under 10 mins with my guys but I still think they are great!

Firstly, my border collie loves the food but unfortunately this particular product once chewed upon were sharp. I was supervising and when I realised took it from her and she required monitoring for the day in obvious discomfort. Luckily she’s okay.but this was concerning.

The plus side is that my corgi loves these. On the negative side, but quite a few of them were too big for him and those sharp bones were a worry. i have had better things from you in the past and am about to try some hoofs instead.

      cleardog

Hi Chris. The size will vary due to the size of the roo but generally, they are small enough for most small to medium dogs as long lasting. The bone isn’t cooked so won’t shatter/shard and while you should always monitor a dog with a bone as nothing is 100% safe, the pointy bits are what make many of these products such a good dental aid. We have never had any negative feedback regarding them causing harm and we sell tonnes of bone products

My 1 year old Staffy goes crazy for these. Unfortunately, parts of the bone are not easily digested and she vomits it up, usually in the middle of the night. Bit of a concern. She now has them under supervision and I take it from her and dispose of before she hits the largest part of the bone.
