Kangaroo Spare Ribs Dog Treats
Kangaroo Spare ribs are the lower fat equivalent to our top-selling beef spare ribs – and a little cheaper too!
Firstly, this is a great smaller dental dog treat which is great for medium-sized dogs and keen smaller dogs who love to chew!
Secondly, please keep in mind that all our products are naturally dried, not cooked. This means the bone has not calcified so it will not be brittle and shard-like a cooked bone might.

There is still plenty of meat on the bone so that while they’re chewing, they’re also benefiting from plenty of vital nutrients, such as protein and iron. All naturally found Australian Kangaroo (but you won’t find any additives!). The tough bone will dislodge any leftover food and will remove plaque and tartar. This will reduce any chances of decay and keep their teeth and gum health in top condition! Plus, it will keep that dog breath at bay.
And don’t worry, all of our bones are dried, not cooked, so they won’t shatter and get lodged in your dog’s throat – ouch!
Our products have a best before of 12 months from purchase if kept sealed and stored out of direct sunlight and under 30c on average.

200g and 400g sizes comes in a convenient resealable stand up pouch. 1kg packs come in a resealable flat bag.
Ribs vary in size depending where on the rib cage they are and the size of the animal. some can be quite small and others bigger.
On average there are about 60 to a kilo, 12 to a 200g bag and 25 to a 400g bag

Hi Courtney, I am sorry to hear about your dogs teeth and the costs you have incurred. We sell a huge amount of rib products, with the roo spare ribs being a top 10 product which we sell a few hundred thousand serves of every year. Thats not including other rib products like beef spare ribs, beef sternum, roo breast bone, riblets and rib racks. They are popular as its a softer and crunchy bone being non weight baring. Its extremely rare to hear a dehydrated bone product has broken a tooth, let alone multiple teeth. Generally when things like this happen its due to an existing issue with the teeth, such as hairline fractures or cavities due to teeth decay and crunching on the bone has brought it to light. I recommend asking the vet dentist to check other teeth for issues while the dog is under (its the general anesthetic which is the main cost of teeth work for dogs). Bone products in general offer a great longer lasting dental aid as well as being entertaining for dogs. We will respectfully disagree with your vets assessment with our own experience, feedback and statistics at hand. We simply would not sell these products if they were harming dogs past isolated incidents. We have not had any other feedback in recent memory of them breaking teeth so I am hopeful this is an isolated incident as we would not expect healthy teeth to crack while chewing on uncooked rib bones. Also please note, due to spam we do not instantly post reviews. Since lockdown has changed the way we shop for our animals, we recently ordered 3 x 1kg packs of these for our Kelpies and had them delivered to our property outside Brisbane. Hi Maria, Just like with the Sardines you also said are stale – these products are simply dehydrated to remove the water content. This gives them a really long shelf life of generally 2+ years. That said, we probably have one of the fastest stock turn arounds in the industry with most stock shifting anywhere from days to a couple of months after dehydration for most products so none of the products will be stale, just the natural result after dehydrating.

Hi Greg, the colour as well as the smell while usually quite consistent can sometimes vary depending on the age and breed of roo, such as eastern, western and red kangaroos which we source from different parts of Australia where they may also have access to different feed. All of our products have quite consistent dry times to get the moisture levels down within a very small range.

Only negative, this last time I bought them they were strong in odour. she sneaks them inside but you can smell them a mile away, I hope the next batch is back to the normal light Kangaroo smell.

I have 3 small dogs i buy a lot of treats but these are not my favourite , they chew them in to small pieces that are very sharp , i know you say they are not cooked but they seem to present the same as a cooked bone hard and they splinter . I would not recommend these at all .

Perfect size for my little dog, a terrier cross. She grasps it with her back teeth and carries it off to her mat with a look of satisfaction. She is 10 years old and hasn’t got a full quota of teeth. All the same, she gets stuck into each bone with great enthusiasm, removes all the meat but doesn’t usually chew the bone itself. It is a source of great excitement for her. I tried beef ribs but they were too large for her little mouth to handle. I was given helpful and prompt advice when I emailed ‘Clear Dog’ asking what to give her instead of beef. Sheltie pups LOVES these ribs. I toss him one when guests are over and I need him to behave. He will eat these super duper clean and continue gnawing on the bone for ages. One concern though is that after he’s eaten all the meat off, he will chew quick hard on the bone and several bones have splintered, leaving some sharp shards and edges. No injuries so far and it could be fine to let him continue gnawing away, but I get paranoid and have been chucking the bone away after 20 minutes after all the meat is gone.

My small dogs love these rib bones but they worry me because they do splinter into thin shards that are so sharp they cut my fingers. I have bought beef spare ribs in the past and think I will stick with them in future. I could be wrong but I am just not sure about the potential for mouth injury or worse with these smaller thinner bones.

Hi Monty. As the bone is not cooked, just dried it will not have calcified so wont be brittle. that said, it is still soft bone and will crunch creating edges which creates such a great dental aid. Nothing is 100% safe – us humans choke etc, but we have never to date had any negative feedback on spare ribs and we have sold tonnes of them.
